VN in Top 10 destinations for expats

Viet Nam was placed at 10th position in the world for luring foreign workers, according to the HSBC Expat Explorer Economic league table.

The bank surveyed over 5,000 respondents in four continents based on a number of factors such as earning levels, disposable income and ability to purchase luxury goods.
The survey shows that as much as 50% of expats in Viet Nam agree that they can earn more since moving to the country.

Two third of them (63%) think that the financial status of their household has been improved. Meanwhile, a third of them relate the country with higher salaries in comparison with other Asian counterparts.

A third of expats found that they have better living opportunities than in their own countries.

Hoi An, one of Top 10 Asian tourist destinations

The UNESCO-recognized world heritage, Hoi An ancient town, in central Viet Nam, has been named for the first time as one of the ten leading tourism cities in Asia, according to Condé Nast Traveler, the world’s premier travel magazine.

This is part of the Condé Nast Traveler 25th Annual Readers’ Choice Award which was published recently in New York.The 111-year-old Sofitel Legend Metropole, located in capital Ha Noi, ranked third among 20 best hotels in the region, according to the magazine.

Two other Vietnamese candidates Park Hyatt Saigon and Sheraton Saigon were also on the list.

Life Heritage Resort Hoi An and Nam Hai were placed the 10th and 14th positions among 15 leading resorts in Asia.
This year, the award drew the participation of 46,476 voters.

Hoi An, an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Asian trading port, is an outstanding material manifestation of the fusion of cultures over time. It was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

International visitors to Vietnam in September and 9 months of 2012

According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the number of foreign visitors to the country touched 460,000 in September, a 62 percent increase year-on-year.

In the first nine months of this year, Vietnam recorded more than 4.85 million foreign visitors, up by 23 percent compared to the same period last year.

Of these, Ho Chi Minh City received about 2.72 million visitors from abroad, accounting to 56 percent of the total number of foreign visitors to the country in the first nine months.

Although this was not peak tourist season, the number of foreign visitors still increased, thanks to the International Travel Expo which took place from September 13-15 in HCMC.

Vietnam’s resorts make top destinations list in Asia

Five hotels and resorts of Vietnam were listed among top 20 best resorts and hotels in the Southeast Asia and Asia by the US’ Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. 

The magazine’s Readers Choice Awards were announced in New York on October 16.

The Life Heritage Resort Hoi An and the Nam Hai (Nam Hai hotel), ranked 10th and 14th in the list of top 15 resorts in Asia.

Meanwhile, the 111-year-old Hotel Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was ranked third among the top 20 hotels in Southeast Asia . Two other ones, Park Hyatt Saigon and Sheraton Saigon were also named in the list.

In particular, Hoi An ancient town was selected as one of the top 10 tourism cities in Asia, along with other cities such as Bangkok , Hong Kong and Kyoto.

 

This year’s award of the magazine drew almost 46,500 votes through its website, judging on five categories of food, place, architecture, and the room and service quality.
