According to Joint Circular No. 04/2002 / TTLT / BCA-BNG of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Security issued on 29 May 01, 2002, guiding the implementation of Decree No. 21/2001 / ND - CP 28-05- 2001 of the Government detailing the implementation of the provisions of the Ordinance on entry, exit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

In Section V Circular regulates Vietnam Visa with the following notations:

Visa A1: Vietnam Visa A1 is issued official members of delegations invited by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government and guests of equivalent ranks of ministers, vice ministers, presidents, vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee and cities directly under the Central Government and relatives, accompanying persons.

Visa A2: Vietnam Visa A2 is issued for members of foreign representative agencies and their relatives and accompanying persons.

Visa A3: Vietnam visa A3 is issued for those who work with foreign representative agencies or visit members of foreign representative agencies.

Visa B1: Vietnam visa B1 is issued for those who work with the People's Procuracy, the Supreme People's Court Supreme, ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, People's Committees of provinces and cities directly under the central government, central agencies and social organizations.

Visa B2: Vietnam visa B2 is issued for those who run investment projects that have been issued license by an authorized State body of Vietnam.

Visa B3: Vietnam visa B3 is issued for those who work with Vietnamese enterprises.

Visa B4: Vietnam visa B4 is issued for those who work in representative office, branches of economic, cultural organizations and other professional organizations of foreign countries; Non-governmental organizations based in Vietnam.

Visa C1: Vietnam visa C1 is issued for foreign tourists

Visa C2: Vietnam visa C2 is issued for people who enter Vietnam with other purposes.

Visa D: Vietnam visa D is issued for those who enter Vietnam without invitation from any agency, organization, and individual.

Visa D has validity of 15 days; other visa has validity of more than 30 days.
