No, an exact date is not strictly required. The arrival date you submit on govietnamvisa.com is simply the expected date you would like to enter Vietnam.

How Visa Validity Works:

➔ Flexible Entry: You can arrive on or after your approved start date.
➔ Strict Exit: You must leave the country on or before the expiration date printed on your approval letter/evisa.

💡 Example: If you apply for a 1-month visa starting January 1, your visa is valid from Jan 1 to Feb 1. You can arrive on January 15, but you still must exit by or on February 1.

⚠️ Important Note for Early Arrivals:

Approval letters/Evisa cannot be amended once issued. If your travel plans change and you need to arrive earlier than the date stated on your letter, you will need to apply for a new visa.

Alternatively, and this is my preference, they can buy online an “approval letter” (from a private agency such as govietnamvisacom, which offers a very efficient service) that takes about 3 weeks to process for FUll Package visa in Covid. It's the easiest way to come back Vietnam in 2021
