Can foreigners with passports valid for less than 6 months apply for a Vietnam visa?

For e-visas, with a ordinary passport valid for less than 6 months,  the Evisa can be approve normally by Immigration but some airlines rejected customers have a passport less than 6 months valid to get on board. Therefore, if your passport is valid for less than 6
months, you should renew your passport if you want to apply for an e-visa.

In case you cannot renew your passport immediately and you need a visa urgently, we can still process your visa approval letter if your passport is valid for less than 6 months (at least 2 months) from the date you arrive in Vietnam.
With an Aprroval Letter, you will need to pay a stamping fee at the Vietnam international airport to do visa on arrival procedure (25USD for single entry and 50USD for multiple entry). However, to avoid any possible problems, you should make a new passport and contact the airline before flying to Vietnam.

• Note: With Visa Approval Letter, you can only use this visa to enter Vietnam through Vietnam International Airport. This type of visa is not valid if you enter via Landport or Seaport. If you want to enter via Landport or seaport, you will have to renew your passport to apply for an e-visa.
