Foreign visitors to Vietnam can extend e-visa to 90 days
On the morning of June 24, the 5th session of the 15th National Assembly continued to discuss the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens (amended) and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners. outside of Vietnam (modified). This law was approved by the National Assembly with the approval rate of 95.14% of the delegates.
Accordingly, the law amending and supplementing visa regulations (visa) is valid for one time or many times. The SQ-sign visa is valid for a period of no more than 30 days. Visas with symbols HN, DL, EV are valid for no more than 90 days. VR visas are valid for no more than 180 days. HN (issued to people entering seminars and conferences in Vietnam), DL (issued to foreigners entering Vietnam for tourism), EV (electronic visa) has a validity of no more than 90 days.
Visas with symbols NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, DT4, DN1, DN2, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2, TT are valid for no more than one year.
In the report explaining and receiving the bill, Chairman of the National Defense - Security Committee Le Tan Toi explained that, about the duration and value of the visa, the majority of opinions agreed with the draft law. There are suggestions to explain how many times specifically; there is a proposal to change the "month" regulations with "day" for consistency.
Receiving comments from delegates, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed and revised the regulations on the duration of visas to agree to change the calculation of "months" by "days", in case of 12 months, are counted as 1 year.
A multiple-entry visa is a type of visa issued to foreigners, used to enter and exit Vietnam many times during the visa's duration.
Regarding the expansion of countries whose citizens are granted electronic visas and international border gates that allow foreigners to enter and exit with electronic visas, some opinions agree on regulations on expanding visa issuance electronically for citizens of countries and regions.
In addition, the delegate suggested that the Government review and supplement the list of countries whose citizens are granted electronic visas and international border gates that allow foreigners to enter by electronic visa.
Receiving comments from delegates, the National Assembly Standing Committee directed the drafting agency to supplement the document to send to the National Assembly a draft resolution on the list of countries and territories whose citizens are granted electronic visas. death. Immediately after the law is passed and takes effect, the Government will issue a resolution to promptly implement it in practice.
Regarding increasing the time for granting temporary residence certificates at border gates from 15 days to 45 days, many opinions agree with the draft law; a number of comments suggested to clarify the basis of the 45-day regulation; offer to increase to 60 or 90 days.
Mr. Toi said that raising the unilateral visa exemption period to 45 days is the average level in the region, thereby enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in attracting tourists; to further facilitate international tourists. Therefore, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly proposes to the National Assembly to keep the same as the draft law submitted by the Government.
This Law takes effect from August 15, 2023.
