IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR PHU QUOC TRAVELERS: NEW ENTRY REQUIREMENT FROM JUNE 1

Specifically, from June 1, 2026, the Border Police at Phu Quoc International Airport will officially require all passengers entering Vietnam through this airport to declare their information online (via the PAI system) before arriving in Vietnam.

Instead of the crowded paper declaration forms at the counter as before, the PAI system allows passengers to proactively declare their information on their phones within 3 days before entry. After completion, passengers will receive a QR code to scan for verification, allowing for lightning-fast customs clearance and minimizing waiting time.

Behind this mandatory regulation is not a matter of cumbersome procedures, but a comprehensive transformation to turn Phu Quoc into a "smart airport" model.

Colonel Bui The Duong, Head of Phu Quoc Border Police, said that the PAI system helps authorities receive and analyze data early, creating a foundation for automated entry solutions. This is a perfect stepping stone to building the image of a professional and modern Vietnam, ready to serve APEC 2027 and anticipating the commissioning of Terminal 2.

Don't worry about the new system causing difficulties, because the effectiveness of PAI has been proven in practice. At the end of April 2026, Tan Son Nhat airport piloted this regulation. In just 15 days, the system recorded 161,596 passenger declarations with 119,854 successful cases, significantly reducing congestion at the border gate.

📋 5 Steps to Complete Your Online Pre-Arrival Declaration (PAI)

To ensure a smooth trip, passengers should prepare their passport (valid for more than 6 months), flight information, hotel address, and personal email address in advance, then follow these 5 steps:

1. Step 1: Access the official system at https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn or scan the QR code at the service counters.
2. Step 2: Select your language and click "Create & Submit Pre-arrival Information".
3. Step 3: Fill in passenger information and visa details.
   ⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: In the "Visa Type / Purpose" section, you must select "Phu Quoc visa exemption".
4. Step 4: Complete the trip information (flights, accommodation in Vietnam), double-check the data, and click "Submit".
5. Step 5: The system will issue a successful QR code. You MUST take a screenshot of this QR code on your phone to present to customs officers upon arrival in Phu Quoc.
