With many relaxed visa policies and the advantage of diverse destinations, the development potential of Vietnam tourism is still very large.
The above information is the opinion of many international newspapers and experts in the tourism sector. Xinhua news agency reported that Vietnam welcomed nearly 10 million international visitors in the first 7 months of this year, an increase of 51% over the same period last year and an increase of 1.9% over the same period in 2019 - the year before the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vietnamese market is especially attractive to tourists from South Korea and China as these are the two countries with the largest number of international visitors to Vietnam during this period.

The World Travel section of the Economic Times attributed this impressive growth to Vietnam’s favorable visa policy and tourism promotion campaigns by businesses and localities. In addition, Vietnam has also attracted a large number of European visitors during the low tourist season.

Mr. Ben Chang - General Director of Starlux Airlines Vietnam Branch Company Limited assessed: "Vietnam is strengthening tourism promotion, while constantly investing in improving the quality of infrastructure, tourist attractions, and innovating tourism products, so the goal of welcoming 17 - 18 million international visitors in 2024 is very feasible".

Despite the growth, Vietnam will still have to overcome many challenges to attract tourists to return. The Star news site reported that a foreign tourist spends seven times more than a domestic tourist. Therefore, Vietnam needs to enhance tourism services to attract higher spending from tourists, improve visa policies and develop unique tourism products to retain international visitors.

Mr. Steven Wolstenholme - Chairman and General Director of Hoiana Resort & Golf commented: "Vietnam can attract many tourists with the MICE tourism model, appealing to business people on business trips. Attending meetings while experiencing the charm and cuisine of Vietnam. Combining business with relaxation, I think this is a great formula for the market to continue to grow. In addition, there are many other tourism models that are also very potential, such as golf tourism, which is currently attracting the attention of Korean tourists".

A potential future market for Vietnam is the billion-people market of India. The Indian Express news site has an article titled "Central Asia, Vietnam is an attractive new destination on the Indian tourism map." This article said that Vietnam tourism has the advantage of providing fast, cheap and convenient e-visas for Indian passport holders.

The article points out that Indian tourists are shifting their preferences towards destinations that are accessible, affordable and culturally rich. Thus, Indian tourists are showing strong demand for destinations such as Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
