US, India, Australia should be included in Vietnam visa exemption list: tourists

With growing anticipation among travelers, various nationalities are advocating for Vietnam to expand its visa exemption list, aligning with the policies of other Southeast Asian nations.

Michael Burger, an American tourist, expresses his contentment at the prospect of Vietnam considering visa waivers for nationals of more countries. He highlights the significant influx of high-spending visitors from the U.S. and the increasing popularity of group tours and cruises.

Drawing parallels with neighboring countries like Thailand, which have already waived visas for American citizens, Burger urges Vietnam to follow suit.

Pritesh Mehta from India echoes similar sentiments, hoping for India's inclusion on the visa exemption list. With India emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies globally, Mehta emphasizes the increasing spending power among Indian travelers, citing examples of other countries like Thailand and Malaysia that do not require visas for Indian nationals.

India has become Vietnam's fastest-growing tourism market, experiencing a notable 231% increase in visitors from 2019 to pre-Covid times.

Ken Rafter, an Australian visitor, shares his love for Vietnam and advocates for adding Australia to the visa waiver list to enhance travel convenience. Highlighting the substantial spending of Australian tourists in Vietnam, Rafter emphasizes the potential benefits of attracting more affluent travelers from Australia.

Phil Johnson, another Australian traveler, emphasizes that visa exemption for Australians could significantly boost tourism from Australia to Vietnam, offering an alternative to popular destinations like Bali and Thailand.

Tourism analysts also join the chorus, urging the Vietnamese government to consider visa waivers for tourists from major markets like China, the U.S., Australia, India, and Europe to stimulate tourism growth.

Vietnam's current visa-free entry policy includes nationals from 25 countries, in contrast to its Southeast Asian counterparts like Malaysia and Thailand, which offer visa-free entry to significantly more nationalities.

Despite receiving 12.6 million international visitors last year, representing only around 70% of pre-Covid numbers, Vietnam lags behind its regional peers like Malaysia and Thailand, which welcomed over 28 million visitors each.
