Vietnam Visa Exemption - Who are offered?

 

In order to welcome more and more visitors to Vietnam, the nation’s Government issued the Vietnam visa exemption. Travelers from countries in the visa exemption list are allowed to enter Vietnam without a visa within a certain period of time. This period varies among countries. Therefore, don’t forget to check whether you need a visa to Vietnam or not before filling out the Vietnam visa application form by taking a look at the Check visa requirement box.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In case you would like to stay in Vietnam longer the the free visa time, you DO NEED APPLY ONLINE FOR VIETNAM VISA. For expample, if you are free Vietnam visa in 15 days, but you want to stay in Vietnam for 20 days, you have to apply for Vietnam visa before travelling.

 


Hereunder is the list of countries or regions that are offered Vietnam visa exemption:

6 Belarus 15 days (Valid until 30 June 2020)
7 Japan 15 days
8 South Korea 15 days
9 Sweden 15 days
10 Norway 15 days
11 Denmark 15 days
12 Russia 15 days
13 Finland 15 days
14 Cambodia 30 days
15 Thailand 30 days
16 Malaysia 30 days
17 Singapore 30 days
18 Indonesia 30 days
19 Laos 30 days
20 Philippines 21 days
21 Brunei 14 days
22 Myanmar 14 days
23 Chile 90 days (Starting from 11 August 2017)

 

France citizens holding valid diplomatic / official passports

Within 90 days / Several visits within 6 months

Chile citizens holding valid diplomatic / official passports

Within 90 days

APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders

Within 60 days

Those who enter Vietnam through an international border gate and then travel to Phu Quoc and stay here only.

Within 30 days

 

Important Notice:

- The visa exemption is only available for tourist purpose, not business one.

- Pasports need to be valid at least 6 months from the date of travel to Vietnam.

 

- Citizens of Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei and Myanmar can enter and exit Vietnam multiple times as they want with a free Visa for a specific of time.

- Citizens of above countries can enter Vietnam for a specific of times without a Visa regardless any purposes. But citizens of South Korea, Japan, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, Belarus and France want to enter into Vietnam under unilateral visa exemption in the next time have to wait at least 30 days from the last day exit Vietnam.


If you are in the Vietnam visa exemption list, for example, Denmark passport holder, surely you can enter and stay in Vietnam for 15 days without a Vietnam visaHowever, for a stay over 15 days, say, 40 days, you are required to apply for a 3 month single/multiple entry visa for Vietnam.
