Vietnam Visa Photo Requirements

With Vietnam E-Visa, most government agencies and travel agents will tell you that you won't need 2 passport-sized photos when you arrive at Vietnam entry port, but you must provide your portrait photo during your online E-Visa application. This can be a confusing message since different countries have different photo specifications. Generally, Vietnamese officers are not too strict about the photo details, but you still need to follow these rules:

  • Color: The photos must be in color.
  • No glasses/hat: Veins, hats, scarves, and any other accessories that cover your ears or foreheads are strictly prohibited, except for religious purposes.
  • Head size and position: Face the camera directly. Shoulders should be squared.
  • Background: Solid, plain, and bright
  • Smile: No smile. Just keep a neutral expression.
  • Eyes: Must be visible and open.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Do I need to send the scan of my passport and photo to Vietnam to get E-Visa?
Yes. You need to submit your scanned photo and passport when you apply online. After filling out the online application form on our website and confirming the required documents, you will receive the E-Visa. Simply bring your passport along with the printed-out E-Visa to get the entry stamp upon arrival.

2. What if I forget to bring my photos?
➔ With Vietnam E-Visa, all necessary information—including your photo and passport details—is already updated with the Vietnamese Government system upon successful registration. You do not need to bring physical photos for immigration procedures at the Vietnam entry port.

3. If I forget to take photos, what should I do?
➔ As mentioned, you do not need physical photos for E-Visa entry. However, if you want to complete immigration procedures at the Vietnam entry port as quickly as possible, you can register for our Airport Speed Up service.

4. Do children need their own photo for Vietnam E-visa?
Yes. Like adults, children need their own photos. Photographing babies can be tricky, so we recommend the following:

  • Lay the baby down on a chair with a white sheet behind them (ensure no one else is in the frame).
  • Keep toys, pacifiers, bottles, and other objects out of the picture.
  • Do your best to square up the baby's face and snap the picture with their eyes open.
