Summary of reasons for slow processing of foreign visas on the government system
1. Security and background checks
Need to verify criminal records, criminal records, or security factors.
2. The system has not updated exit information
According to regulations, the Vietnamese Government only processes and approves visas for foreigners who are outside of Vietnam. In some cases, visitors have just left Vietnam, but the immigration management system has not updated in time, causing the application to show that they are still residing.
This leads to data inconsistencies, forcing the authorities to re-check all of your previous entry data. And this will take more time to process your visa. To handle this problem, you can update the exit stamp on your passport into your visa application. Or you can use the 1-2-3 working day urgent service on our website Govietnamvisa.com. We can help you apply for an urgent visa without worrying about wasting time in this case.

3. Incorrect information declaration in the visa application
Incorrect information (full name, passport number, date of birth, entry history, residence address...) may cause the system to refuse to automatically process or request re-verification. To solve this problem, you can check and add the correct information.

4. Violating the law or overstaying visa in the past
Customers who have overstayed their visa, worked or resided illegally, or violated Vietnamese law will be marked in the system. These cases often have to go through a manual check, prolonging the visa processing time more than usual, or are likely to be denied a visa.

5. Invalid photo in the visa application.
When you apply for a Vietnam visa, you will need to upload a portrait photo and a passport photo.
- For the portrait photo, you need to wear proper clothes - not shirtless, not wearing glasses, not wearing a hat (except in the case of a religious person, who is required to wear a hat/scarf), looking straight, and the photo is clear.
- For the passport photo, you need to take a clear photo of the passport page, showing all the information on the passport page, not having any corners cut off, not being blurred or shiny, and the face of the information must be clearly visible.
If you upload a photo that is cropped, blurred or has the above problems, it is very likely that the government will ask you to update the photo to comply with regulations, and it will take more time to process your visa application for the next 3-4 days.

6. Multi-level process, must wait for approval
Visas often have to go through many steps of inspection from the Immigration Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other coordinating agencies (such as local police).

7. System Overload or Failure
Peak tourist season, festivals, or admissions periods will cause the processing system to be overloaded, too many visa applications to Vietnam can cause visa processing to take longer. Sometimes the technical system fails, causing delays in processing applications.

8. Policy changes or diplomatic tensions
Some countries may have temporary visa restrictions due to changes in immigration policies or diplomatic relations.
