After Covid-19, Vietnam was one of the earliest countries to reopen its borders in the region, but the number of international visitors to Vietnam had quite disappointing results. The total number of international visitors to Vietnam in 2022 is just over 3.66 million, lower than the set target of 5 million.
Along with that, Vietnamese airlines have completely restored their flight networks and opened many new international routes to promote tourism. However, many international flights are still empty, leading to the operation not meeting expectations.
One of the reasons why the goal of welcoming international tourists has not been achieved is because the visa policy is still not suitable for many points.
The number of countries that are granted E-visa in Vietnam is low, the E-visa period is not more than 30 days, is a short period of time, has not attracted more than foreigners, especially the group of guests who need a long vacation in Vietnam. Vietnam; has not yet attracted more people wishing to survey, research the market, and seek investment opportunities in Vietnam for a long time.
Faced with these shortcomings, in the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. , the Ministry of Public Security has proposed to increase the duration of the E-visa from 30 days to 3 months, valid once or many times; expand the issuance of electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories and assign the Government to decide on a specific list.
The draft also stipulates to increase the temporary stay period from 15 days to 45 days for citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam and are considered for visa issuance and extension of temporary residence in accordance with other provisions of Vietnam Law.
These are the information that international tourists and investors are looking forward to, and hope to soon be approved and put into official implementation to promote tourism development, attract investment, and contribute to the development of tourism. country economy.
