According to the delegate, Vietnam is a country with great potential for tourism and is a leading place in attracting international investment. After the Covid-19 pandemic, with the shift of the global supply chain, Vietnam is getting a lot of attention from the world and a lot of tourists, especially investors and businessmen, are in turn wishing to demand to come to Vietnam to learn for investment and business of our country.
However, in tourism, Vietnam is like a country "going ahead", controlling Covid-19 very well and opening up to tourism very soon, earlier than many ASEAN countries, but not achieving the same results as they are because visa policy is not open enough.
Therefore, delegates said that the draft Law with more open regulations and access to leading international standards will promote trade, investment and tourism promotion.
Regarding the extension of the time limit for granting temporary residence certificates at the border gate for people entering unilaterally visa-free entry from 15 to 45 days, the delegate proposed to increase it to at least 15 to 60 days, because 45 days is the average level in the region.
In addition, the Hanoi representative also said that Vietnam's unilateral visa exemption for citizens is currently 25 countries, lower than many countries and territories in the region, so, suggested that a decision should be made to expand the unilateral visa exemption category in this phase, at the same time as the expansion of the list for electronic visa application.
The proposal to increase the temporary residence time for immigrants was also agreed by delegate Nguyen Thanh Phuong, the Can Tho City National Assembly Delegation. According to delegate Phuong, a period of 30 to 60 days is usually a suitable time for foreign visitors, especially tourists who have a trip long enough for convalescence, sightseeing, medical treatment or business, not only suitable for foreign tourists. for the operation of Vietnamese tourism enterprises but also for international businesses.
