​The Vietnamese government agreed to increase the duration of electronic visas

At the meeting, members of the Government discussed and gave opinions on 5 issues: Draft Resolution of the National Assembly on piloting a number of mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles in construction investment; transportation works; some new policies in the field of management of entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam; the draft of the Law on Identity replacing the Law on Citizens Identity 2014; the project Law on Credit Institutions (amended); propose to develop a Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of foreigners in Vietnam.


 
Regarding a number of new policies in the field of management of entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security said that the proposed policies are included in a joint resolution of the National Assembly. at the 5th meeting in May 2023 to implement immediately, while amending and supplementing the Law on Immigration, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
 
This is to solve a number of urgent issues to further facilitate foreigners (tourists, investors, businessmen, etc.) in entering, exiting, transiting, residing and doing business in Vietnam. Vietnam, contributing to the recovery and development of tourism in particular and socio-economic in general.


 
Government members unanimously proposed to the National Assembly to allow the extension of the duration of electronic visas (E-visas) from no more than 30 days to no more than 3 months, valid for one time or multiple times;
 
Issue e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories in the world and assign the Government to decide on a specific list of countries and territories;
 
The time limit for granting temporary residence certificates at the border gate for people entering the country under the visa exemption scheme is from 15 days to 45 days.
 
Creating favorable conditions for citizens to apply for visas to enter foreign countries; Issuance of passports according to simplified procedures


 
Government members unanimously assessed the proposal to develop a Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of foreigners in Vietnam is very necessary, in order to meet the requirements of practice in simplifying administrative procedures, facilitating immigration procedures for Vietnamese citizens and foreigners.
 
The Government members agreed with the proposed policies, accordingly, continuing to reform administrative procedures in the field of immigration on the electronic environment; create conditions for Vietnamese citizens in applying for foreign entry visas and issuing ordinary passports according to simplified procedures.
