
Experts believe that stronger cooperation between the aviation and tourist sectors is critical to further promoting tourism activities, which are projected to benefit both industries and the economy as whole.
In 2024, the Vietnamese tourism industry expects to welcome 17-18 million foreign tourists and 110 million Vietnamese tourists, earning approximately 840 trillion VND (33.01 billion USD).
Tourism and aviation are both service industries, which means that their goods rely mainly on technology to provide clients with effective and convenient services. Because of this charateristic, tourism and aviation have a strong bond and inseparable connection.
Thanks to by 63 foreign airlines and 4 domestic ones, six travelling destination in Vietnam included Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Phu Quoc, and Da Lat, are connected to 33 countries and territories. The network of foreign flights has been expanded to new markets in Australia, India, and Central Asia, and has been fully restored as pre-COVID-19.

Do Hong Cam - Deputy Director, stated that a significant increase in foreign tourism has been facilitated by international aviation. In comparison to the same period last year and the pre-pandemic 2019, the country registered 7.6 million international arrivals during the first five months of 2024, an increase of 61.7% and 3.9%, respectively. The number is predicted to exceed 18 million in the end of this year.
The cooperation between Vietnam and international airline should go beyond joint advertisements and promotions to building a phased general plan to generate long-term effects. Enhance cooperation with airlines can be a chance to Vietnam to boost Vietnamese tourism as many countries still struggle with insufficient seat capacity and high airfares, support and marketing Vietnam with more and more foreigners.
Negotiate with airlines, encouraging them to combine airline seats with holiday packages or offer special prices for long-stay travelers aligning with Vietnam visa policy which is expected to simplize recently would be some of the ideas for make stronger and develop both Vietnam aviation and tourism.
