According to the Henley Passport Index 2023, the Vietnamese passport is ranked 82nd with 55 countries and territories that are visa-free or have simplified procedures such as obtaining visas at the border or electronic visas. Compared to the ranking in January this year, the Vietnamese passport increased 6 places, from position 88 and increased 10 places compared to 2022. The number of countries and territories where Vietnamese citizens are allowed to enter without a visa or apply for a border visa remains unchanged at 55 countries. Specifically, visa-free countries for Vietnam in 2024 include:
Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste.
Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Taiwan (China), Tajikistan.
Middle East: Iran, Kuwait, Oman.
Oceania: Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Puala Islands, Micronesia, Niue, Samoa, Tuvalu.
Americas: Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Panama, Suriname.
Caribbean region: Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Africa: Burundi, Cape Verde, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia.
Thus, in 2024, Vietnam will be exempted from visas by 55 countries, meaning that Vietnamese citizens entering these countries do not need to complete visa procedures or pay visa-related fees.
